Leeds is a global centre of expertise for data analytics and one of the UK’s leading innovation hubs. It is home to Nexus, a £40 million
innovation centre led by the University of Leeds to incubate and grow innovation start-up companies.
Today, having completed a prestigious, two-year Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) programme, the MIT-REAP Leeds
City Region team, of which we are part, is now supporting business innovations to scale fast.
Leeds has one of Europe’s largest further education colleges and a world class academic community. This gives us a pipeline of local students into our health, care, healthtech and digital sectors.
Despite being the UK’s third largest city with a strong national NHS presence, and home to one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, its local health and care structure is unusually simple. It unites through the Leeds Academic Health Partnership, making it easy to understand and work with.
The Leeds City Region is part of the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership, the UK’s third largest of its kind, integrating and improving health and care for its population of 2.6 million.
The Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership works to unlock the region’s economic potential by enabling businesses to grow and develop. As health inextricably links to wealth, we are embedded within and support the work of these regional bodies.
