About Us
ClearSky Medical Diagnostics develops intelligent medical devices for the diagnosis and monitoring of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and related conditions. Its CE-Marked clinically-validated devices utilise patented White/Open Box machine learning algorithms that allow clinical predictions to be verified in a way other forms of machine learning cannot. ClearSky’s LID-Monitor and PD-Monitor devices have been used in medical centres worldwide and are supporting major drug trials in the UK.
LID-Monitor: Monitoring the side-effects of medication for Parkinson's disease.
Many Parkinson's disease patients experience unpleasant side effects with their medication which include involuntary movements called dyskinesia. LID-Monitor offers a safe, simple and unobtrusive way of monitoring dyskinesia in the patient's own home and provides the specialist with the means to adjust the medication to managed side effects more effectively.
The system simply requires the patient to wear up to six small wireless sensors, one on each arm and leg, head and trunk that continually monitor the patient's movements over a period of up to 48 hours. Movements associated with dyskinesia are recognised by the system and presented to the specialist in an easy to interpret graph.
PD-Monitor: Confirming diagnosis and monitoring the progression of Parkinson's.
Diagnosis of Parkinson's disease can be difficult to confirm by conventional clinical assessment alone. PD-Monitor assists the specialist by measuring symptoms of Parkinson's disease while patients undertake routine clinical tasks. Small, non-invasive sensors positioned on the finger and thumb measure patients' movements in response to the finger-tapping test, a clinical task in which the patient repeatedly taps the forefinger and thumb of each hand for a period of 10-30 seconds. Symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease such as bradykinesia and tremor are reported to the specialist in a tablet based application that can be used to inform diagnosis.
