Re:Cognition Health

About Us

Re:Cognition Health (RCH), a multi-award-winning UK and USA company, was founded in 2011 with the vision to address the global challenge of providing the most accurate and early diagnosis for individuals of all ages suffering from neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases and traumatic brain injury.

Innovation is at the heart of RCH, the team constantly strives to progress research to deliver the very latest diagnostics and treatment pathways.

RCH is recognized as the fastest-growing, world-leading company for international clinical trials for Alzheimer's and related causes of dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions. Its ten UK and USA centers are involved in the groundbreaking Alzheimer's clinical trial for Lecanemab – the first FDA approved treatment demonstrated to slow the progression of Alzheimer's (at least 27% reduction in the rate of progressive cognitive decline). This achievement has been hailed as a historic moment and the end of the beginning of the search for an effective treatment for Alzheimer's. Results from the recent successful global trial, for another new Alzheimer’s treatment Donanemab, demonstrated a slowing of cognitive decline by at least 35% compared to placebo.

Over 10,000 people have participated in clinical trials at Re:Cognition Health, spearheading research and helping to pave the way for new treatments. Re:Cognition Health is the first UK company to achieve GCSA accreditation, a global quality mark for clinical research.

RCH Founder and CEO, Dr. Emer MacSweeney, a Principal Investigator for these trials and a world-leading expert in Alzheimer’s, has been recognized for her contribution and impact on society through multiple awards including EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award for "Societal Impact" and UK Growing Business of the Year Award for "Positive Impact." She regularly appears on TV talking about Alzheimer’s and educating the public.

The pioneering ethos, altruistic values, and passion for improving cognitive health upon which the company was founded remain embedded within the company today. RCH funds commercial R&D ventures, including working with academic based companies and university departments search for new imaging and blood biomarkers to detect accurate evidence of early disease.

Determination to find new treatments & cures for debilitating & degenerative conditions affecting the brain & mind, by providing clinical expertise & collaboration with industry & academia is evidenced through new service innovations launched this year for Long Covid in collaboration with a University of Exeter spin-off Attomarker and MEG brain health monitoring with our Concussion Clinic.

Re:Cognition Health is committed to sharing knowledge and instigating improvements within the medical field, regularly hosting talks for the healthcare industry, legal experts, and the public. Re:Cognition Health has hosted four National Medical Conferences for personal injury lawyers, to advance understanding and encourage knowledge-sharing of the continued rapid scientific progress of new and increasingly sophisticated biomarkers for the diagnosis of brain injury and potential treatments for the progressive degenerative disease, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

Dr. Emer MacSweeney's recent TEDx talk about CTE being one of the most feared and dangerous risks in contact sports has garnered over 1.3 million views and over 95,000 comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXn-okL2rfsto
