What is TENS?

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Our Babycare TENS devices have been specifically designed to combat pai n during labour, especially during the early stages and whilst still at home.

Babycare TENS provide hand-held, battery-operated devices that send mild electrical impulses to sticky pads (electrodes) placed on pregnant women during labour. These tingly pulses help to increase the body’s own pain killing chemicals (endorphins and encephalins) as well as block the pain signals to the brain during contractions.
