Mangar Health

About Us

In 2021 it will be 40 years since founder David Garman invented the first powered bath lift. As designers, manufacturers and suppliers of assistive equipment, Mangar has grown in that time from a small business located in a rural mid-Wales community to a SME employing 60 people and supplying healthcare providers internationally.

The company’s foundations are based on innovation and design, releasing more than 40 products since inception. Our unique inflatable lifting products, assembled at our factory in Presteigne, mid Wales, are now sold into every NHS Ambulance Service in the UK. The products are also bought by Ambulance Services, care homes and home care services in Europe, Australia and North America.

Our close connections with the ambulance service has seen the Mangar team gain considerable experience in post fall management and we are now recognised at specialists in this area of care. To support care workers that look after people who fall we have also developed a health assessment App (ISTUMBLE) that enables carers to check the faller before lifting or moving them.

The lifting cushions and App mean that if someone falls in a care home or in a home environment, their carer can lift them without calling the ambulance for help. As COVID regulations encourage limited contact with hospitals wherever possible, the lifting cushions have empowered carers to contain fall situations and limit outside contact.

Most importantly, healthcare workers are one of the highest risk groups for sustaining back injuries when moving and handling patients. The Mangar inflatable cushions protect workers from injury when lifting fallen people and reduce costs associated with sickness.
