The UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the British Embassy in Riyadh and British Consulate in Jeddah have announced their participation at the Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh 2023, one of the largest healthcare trade shows in the Middle East.
Throughout the three days, UK Government and healthcare leaders will explore collaborations and partnerships within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; helping the UK to further strengthen trade ties within the region.
The activity will also demonstrate the importance of UK – Saudi relationships showcasing how UK innovators and NHS organisations can offer support to healthcare systems globally in a variety of ways. The UK can play an important role in delivering better health outcomes in Saudi Arabia as a partner of choice for the Saudi Arabian Healthcare Transformation Programme under Vision 2030.
During the week, DBT will welcome a number of senior government leaders including Peter Ashby, His Majestys Deputy Trade Commissioner and Saudi Arabia DBT Director; Prof Steve Field, UK Special Healthcare Representative for Saudi Arabia, and Prof Ged Byrne, Director of Global Health, NHS England.
All are welcome to attend the UK’s celebrations, starting on Sunday morning with the opening of the UK Government stand and on Monday 30 October from 12.00 - 13.00, we will be signing important Memoranda of Understanding between UK and Saudi Arabian organisations.
In addition, the UK Government are delighted to be bringing 17 National Health Service (NHS) Organisations and British Digital Innovators to the exhibition (Stand: H4 C30) to connect and share their expertise with other healthcare experts from across the region, and their cutting-edge solutions that are tackling some of the major challenges of modern healthcare.
The UK has a strong track record of scientific breakthroughs and is delivering the next generation of life-changing treatments, technologies and services. From personalised healthcare, genomics, digital health and AI, cutting-edge medical technology.
The NHS in England became the world’s first health service to commit to reaching carbon net zero – by 2040 for the emissions it controls itself, and by 2045 for the emissions it influences, with the Greener NHS programme.
Innovation is at the heart of the UK’s healthcare system. The NHS is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and is one of the very best healthcare systems in the world, operating an integrated model of care that puts the patient at the centre of the healthcare system.
The British Government’s ongoing investment in growing capabilities in areas such as AI and more broadly around Data Driven Healthcare, has further fuelled the creation of cutting edge, evidence-based solutions. Rich data sources enable digital technology transformation of healthcare provision in areas such as: teleconsultations, remote monitoring, self-care, and non-invasive diagnostics.
As in most countries globally, UK demographic changes are powerfully shaping the demand for digital healthcare solutions to transform patient treatments. And with an escalating prevalence of non-communicable diseases, it has become crucial to proactively identify smarter ways that can effectively address these ever-growing healthcare needs.
The UK, globally renowned as a hub for pioneering solutions, has maintained a long-standing strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia. We are excited to participate in GHE 2023, where we aim to strengthen bilateral and regional relationships and proudly showcase the UK's exceptional capabilities.
