New to 2022, the UK Pavilion has launched the ‘UK Pavilion Presentation Theatre’ to showcase the strengths of UK life sciences at MEDICA 2022.
Organised by the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI), the Department for International Trade (DIT), and co-sponsored by Welsh Government and law firm Sidley Austin, the theatre will run for the full four days at the show.
As well as showcasing the latest cutting-edge healthcare innovations from the UK, there will also be a series of presentations from DIT Commercial officers throughout the week covering all matters international trade and regulatory access.
Here’s what’s coming up on Day 1:
- Led by The Department for International Trade: A Presentation by eg Technology (10:40am – 11:00am)
eg Technology, a UK-based product design, engineering & development specialist, works with businesses to transform technology ideas into successful products, to create the next generation of medical devices.
- Improving Training & Reducing Morbidity Using Medical Simulation (11:05am – 11:25am)
An interactive demonstration of the importance of Medical Simulation, in an emergency scenario, such as an impacted fetal head. The session will be led by Adam,Rouilly’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Tariq Shahab. Adam,Rouilly is a UK company specialising in the supply and manufacture of Clinical Skills Simulators, Anatomical Models and Anatomical Charts to hospitals, universities, medical schools and other healthcare professionals throughout the world.
- Surgitrac Instruments products and services (11:30am – 11:50am)
Surgitrac Instruments manufactures specialist surgical instruments for Ophthalmology. This overview is of particular interest to both surgical instrument distributors and procedure pack companies that are sourcing surgical instruments manufactured to international standards. Led by Max Rogers, Sales & Marketing Manager, Surgitrac Instruments.
- Led by The Department for International Trade: Presentation by Blüm Health (11:55am – 12:15am)
Founded by clinicians and engineers, Blüm Health is a consultancy dedicated to breaking down barriers to Digital Health through NHS-ready software design, development, and regulatory guidance
- Led by The Department of International Trade: Potential Future UK Medtech Regulatory Framework (1:10pm – 1:55pm)
This session will be led by DIT’s Dr Neil Ebenezer, MedTech and Genomics Specialist, and will explore how medical devices will be regulated across the UK in the future.
- The Future of Digital Point of Care Urinalysis (2:40pm – 3:00pm)
Exploring methods used for point of care urinalysis and the benefits of new technologies. Led by David Caldwell, Chief Commercial Officer of Clinical Design Technologies, part of a new breed of diagnostic companies focused on accurate digital point of care testing. Urine Testing System™, the company's first product provides consistently accurate point of care results from the world's first closed urine test.
- The NeuroMotor Pen (3:50pm – 4:10pm)
Led by Dr Rugter Zietsma, CEO, Manus Neurodynamica, the company that created the NeuroMotor Pen™ (NMP). A chance to explore how this innovative technology is transforming the neuromotor disease diagnostic and monitoring pathways. Recently granted "Breakthrough device" status by the FDA for differentiating between Parkinsonian (PD) and non-Parkinsonian tremors.
- Introducing the alphaBET endotoxin testing system (4:15pm – 4:35pm)
Led by Dr Jenna Bowen, Senior Executive Officer, Cotton Motton Diagnostics. A Pharmacist by training, Jenna co-founded Cotton Mouton Diagnostics (CMD) to exploit a novel magneto-optical sensing platform that she and colleagues at Cardiff and Exeter Universities had developed. CMD’s first product, the alphaBET® system, offers a robust and sensitive solution for endotoxin testing in the pharmaceutical industry. Jenna has been recognised several times as a ‘rising star’ within the business world and was named one of Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation.
