The UCL Global Business School for Health (UCL GBSH) will take to the stage in Dubai next month to explore how global healthcare is being reshaped by innovation, demographic change and evolving patient expectations.
On Tuesday 10 February, Professor Nora Colton, Founding Director of UCL GBSH, will deliver a keynote presentation titled “The New Health Economy – Navigating Innovation, Equity, and the Future of Care” at the UK Pavilion within the Dubai Exhibition Centre.
The session is hosted as part of the UK showcase organised by the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) and will examine the forces transforming healthcare systems worldwide. From ageing populations to rapid technological acceleration and rising consumer expectations, these trends are driving what Professor Colton describes as a “New Health Economy”.
Professor Colton said: “Healthcare is no longer just a public service or a clinical pathway – it is becoming a dynamic, interconnected economy. To meet future demand, we need new business models, digitally enabled care and leaders who can bridge health, technology and management while keeping equity at the centre of decision-making.”
The presentation will set out what this shift means in practical terms, including closer cross-sector collaboration, data-driven and digitally enabled services, and fresh approaches to funding, delivery and leadership. It will also highlight how strategic management and innovation can help health systems respond to growing pressures while improving access and outcomes.
UCL GBSH is the world’s first business school dedicated exclusively to health and healthcare management. Its mission is to reimagine how healthcare is led and organised globally, combining business expertise with real-world health challenges. Through partnerships with hospitals, industry and policymakers, the school focuses on practical, scalable solutions that strengthen health systems and drive meaningful change.
Participation in the World Health Expo forms part of the school’s international outreach, aimed at building new collaborations across business and academia while raising global awareness of its specialist programmes. The event will also support recruitment to its MBA Health, Executive MBA Health and executive education courses, designed to equip current and future leaders for a rapidly evolving health landscape.
Visitors to the UK Pavilion can attend the presentation from 1:50pm to 2:50pm (GMT+4) at the ABHI Presentation Stand and meet representatives from UCL GBSH to learn more about its work, research and study opportunities.
By placing business thinking at the heart of healthcare, UCL GBSH is helping shape conversations about the future of care – one where innovation and equity must progress hand in hand.
