Haemoband Surgical will be exhibiting at WHX Dubai, highlighting its innovative portfolio of colorectal and proctology devices designed to support clinicians in the effective examination and treatment of haemorrhoids.
Specialising in the development and supply of colorectal and proctology products, Haemoband Surgical is best known for its flagship device, the Haemoband-Plus – the world’s first multi-action, pre-loaded, disposable ligator for the treatment of haemorrhoids.
The device was originally developed in 2005 by Consultant Surgeon and company Founder and Medical Director, Essam Ghareeb, with the aim of improving accuracy, efficiency and ease of use during rubber band ligation procedures.
The Haemoband-Plus was specifically designed to enable more accurate band placement while significantly reducing procedure times. Its single-handed, multi-action handle allows clinicians to control suction, band release and reloading with one hand, freeing the other hand to stabilise the proctoscope. Pre-loaded with four individually moulded green bands, the disposable device also features a transparent nozzle to enhance visibility and optimise suction pressure for precise banding.
In 2022, Haemoband Surgical expanded its offering with the launch of the HB-SleeveLUX Proctoscope, enabling the company to provide a complete, integrated solution for the examination and treatment of 1st to 3rd degree haemorrhoids. Together, the Haemoband-Plus and HB-SleeveLUX Proctoscope support a streamlined, minimally invasive approach that prioritises clinician efficiency and patient comfort.
Rubber band ligation remains a well-established, minimally invasive procedure for haemorrhoid treatment, working by cutting off blood supply to the haemorrhoidal tissue so it naturally shrinks and detaches. Compared with surgical alternatives, the procedure typically involves minimal pain, reduced downtime and faster recovery for patients. The disposable nature of the Haemoband-Plus further enhances safety by eliminating the risk of cross-contamination and removing the need for cleaning or assembly.
Essam Ghareeb, Founder and Medical Director, said: “WHX Dubai provides an important opportunity for us to connect with clinicians and partners from across the region and beyond. Our focus has always been on developing practical, clinician-led solutions that improve accuracy, reduce procedure times and enhance patient comfort. By offering a complete solution for the examination and treatment of haemorrhoids, we aim to support healthcare professionals with tools that are efficient, safe and easy to use in everyday clinical practice.”
Haemoband Surgical will use WHX Dubai as a platform to reconnect with existing distribution partners and to explore new partnerships in markets where the company is not yet represented. The team is keen to engage with colorectal clinicians, general surgery clinicians and organisations interested in minimally invasive medical devices that deliver clear clinical and operational benefits.
